It has come to my attention that when I describe what my blog is about, a lot of people have never heard of geocaching. On rare occasions they have heard the term in the past, but don’t actually have any clue what it is. I have included the official geocaching.com video to help break it down.

It has been quite some time since I upgraded from my GPSr that was designed for vehicle use to the Garmin Dakota 10. I have decided that I want to pick up the Garmin Oregon 650! Now there are 2 versions of this GPSr, the 510 and the 510t. The only difference aside from $70, the 510t has 8GB of memory rather than 4GB and it rotates it’s screen when you rotate the unit. It also has the US topographic maps pre-loaded. This isn’t a necessity for me at all since I already own the US topo-maps and I could care less if the screen rotates or not. The 510 has expandable memory via MicroSD card.
The 510 boasts an 8 megapixel camera with a flash, 3″ display, elevation plots, and Bluetooth/wireless for use with Chirp or ANT. It also has “nuvi mode” to use when driving.
The price tag is about $479.99 but well worth the price. When I pick this up, I plan to give my son my Garmin Dakota 10, since he loves that thing.
I was getting a little home sick today and decided to check out the geocaches in my home town – you know, just to see what’s new. I discovered along a small trail of caches I found, somebody had made some “Geocaching Art” by placing caches in certain places to give the illusion of artwork etc.. now I have to go back and get all these!!
I dug up some old videos I made while geocaching with my brother. check them out!
I have been here in Korea for 8 months now and haven’t gone geocaching once!! I’ve been busy with work, and traveling and everything, and completely forgot about my favorite hobby in the world! Well it is time to find some, I don’t have much time left so I must get out there!!!
Well it has been a little while since I last posted on here. The weather is finally warming up and it is about time I get out and geocache! I have already spotted a good sized handful in my area and loaded them to my GPS. Unfortunately work will be tying me up for the next week or so but hopefully next weekend I will venture out.
I don’t entirely like the idea of wandering around Korea by myself, hopefully I can talk a friend or two into geocaching with me! We all know its extremely addicting! More to come!
Well I haven’t had much opportunity for geocaching here in Korea. I have been working like a slave and it has been either snowing like crazy or just outright frigid outside.. A guy I met here who runs a local geocaching group said that we are gonna hit up some geo-hikes here soon. I can’t wait!
Okay so I have yet to find a geocache in korea, but tonight is going to be the night!
there is a flashmob event here for 12-12-12 at 12:12am (hopefully even though its going to be the 13th here, it counts as 12th in the states) that I will be attending! more to come on this!
